This bridge under construction crosses a small river between Kumo and Billiri in Gombe State. I took the picture last Wednesday.
The culvert that was there always flooded to cut off the federal road linking Yola and Jalingo to Gombe, Bauchi, Jos, Abuja and beyond. Once in 2001, I was travelling to Yola in a commercial vehicle when we found the culvert broken by flood. We returned to Gombe (50Km away) to take the longer route through Biu and Gombi.
Atiku was VP then, but his party could not build a bridge for 16 years until PMB’s government commenced a total road reconstruction in 2016, along with the needed bridge! Gombe State is involved in the project but the funds come from the FGN.
It is stories like this that endear PMB to voters, not the colour of his caps. Come February 16, God-willing, PDP will reap its reward.
